Cloverleaf Rolls

2 Pkgs (2 tbsps.) dry yeast
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup milk
2 tsps salt
4-1/2 - 5 cups flour
3 eggs

Soften yeast in 1/2 cup water (110 degrees). In saucepan, combine sugar, shortening, milk and salt. Heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Place in large bowls and cook to lukewarm.

Stir in 1-1/2 cups flour, beat well. add softened yeast and eggs. Beat thoroughly until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to make a moderately stiff dough. Place in a greased bowl and let rise about 1 to 1-1/2 hours. Punch down.

Into greased muffin tins, shape 3 small round balls of dough into each compartment. Let rise until double in bulk.

Brush with melted butter and bake 10-12 minutes at 400 degrees.
